(The Charter, Edmund Rice Education)
Waverley College aims to create an environment where it is possible to foster the talents of all students in the context of Faith. Waverley College aims for excellence in every facet of the holistic education of boys and young men. Our religious, educational, cultural and sporting facilities reflect contemporary approaches to teaching and learning.
The College is guided by the Christian Brothers who, inspired by their founder, Edmund Rice, aim to educate the whole person, within the framework of the Catholic faith. A key feature of the education at Waverley College is its integration of all aspects of learning through the involvement of students beyond the classroom through cocurricular involvements. In this regard opportunities are provided in which students can apply their learning to real situations. Similarly, it provides the opportunity for students to value the traditions of the College, and in this way engenders a sense of belonging aimed at instilling self-esteem among students.
For students to succeed each student is encouraged to aim for personal excellence and to develop independent learning and critical thinking promoting a love of learning for its own sake. For this to occur curriculum is presented in a flexible and innovative way designed to cater for the diversity of our students’ needs and abilities.

The College has a broad curriculum with a range of educational experiences available for student supported by contemporary facilities. The Learning Support Centre (LSC), encompassing Learning Support and Learning Enrichment programs, is designed to address student needs and extend boys using an integrated approach to learning. The Performing Arts Centre supports the growing numbers of students electing to complete Music and Drama. The College Gymanisuim supports the extensive Physical Development and Health Education Program undertaken by the students both formally and informally. The introduction of the Vocational Education and Training courses in Stage 6 in Hospitality (Operations), Information Technology, Construction and Entertainment has ensured employment opportunities for boys once they complete school.
The Professional Development of Staff and the provision of experiential learning for students are given high priority at the College. Access is given to staff for AIS, CEO and externally offered Professional Development courses and staff also have access to a Professional Incentive Scheme to encourage involvement and development beyond the classroom. Similarly, provisions are made within the College Calendar for each Faculty to provide students with experiences beyond the classroom through a range of excursions, field studies and performances.
Throughout its curriculum, Waverley College is ever conscious that the College exists for the benefit of its students. Within a world of change and development the College accepts the challenges presented to any organization within this environment and is committed to the College's tradition of providing quality education allowing each of its students to realise their full potential.
