Year 7 German
The Year 7 German course introduces students to the German-speaking communities and seeks to illustrate the interdependence of language and culture.
Students will explore the nature of languages as systems by making comparisons between German and English, leading to an appreciation of the correct application of linguistic structures and vocabulary.
COURSE CONTENT
Learning is topic-based and the emphasis is on communication in a range of realistic situations. Topics covered fall into four major categories:
- Wie geht's? - Talking about myself and those around me
- Los geht's! - Lifestyle and travel
- Jetzt geht's ab! - Entertainment and Festivals
- Gesundheit! - Health and environmental issues
Typical topics in Year 7 include My Family and I, Where I live, My Daily Routine and It's the Weekend!
ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
The German assessment program consists of class tests, across-form assignments, oral presentations and formal examinations.
