Year 9 English

English is the study and use of the English language in spoken, written and visual texts. It is a mandatory study in the NSW curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The study of English is guided by the belief that language learning occurs and develops through ever-widening contexts. Through this study, students learn about the power, value and art of the English language for communication, knowledge and pleasure. Shakespeare is studied in each of Stages 4 & 5. In Stage 5 at Waverley College, a Shakespeare play is studied in Year 9.
