Year 9 Science

Students in Year 9 Science study the following units of work as part of the NSW Science Years 7-10 Syllabus (Stage 4):

• Life through the Ages
• Ecology
• Electricity
• Coordination and Control
• Chemical Reactions
• The Restless Earth
• The Universe

Year 9 students use the Textbook Science Search 3 as their primary reference source. There is some grading of the Science classes in Year 9. Two of the classes are advanced classes, three classes are mixed ability classes and two classes are organised to complete the work at a slower pace.

Assessment

The assessment program consists of examinations and assignments that are common across the year group, as well as assessment of class work.
