Wellbeing
Our Wellbeing Framework
At Waverley, we believe that school is about more than just academic achievement. It's a place where students can cultivate their whole selves, developing into compassionate, confident, and capable individuals. Our programs and interactions ensure students are known, valued and challenged.
Supporting Student Wellbeing
We recognise that students who feel connected to their peers, families, and community have better outcomes and find greater purpose in life.
To support this, we offer:
- Daily “Culture, Communication and Connection” (CCC) Time with a dedicated Wellbeing Mentor, supporting the development of positive staff and peer relationships across year groups as well as providing opportunities for student leadership and proactive student wellbeing support.
- Kanyini, a bespoke Pastoral Care Program developed and led by the Heads of House and Wellbeing Mentors, with a specific focus on developing social and emotional skills.
- A vertical house structure, with eight Houses led by Heads of House who foster a sense of belonging, mattering and community
- On-campus health and wellbeing specialists, including registered psychologists and a College nurse
- Mental Health First Aid Training for staff, ensuring they can recognise and respond to mental health concerns
Our Houses
Our vertical house structure is designed to ensure that within a large school, every boy feels like he truly matters. With over 190 students from Years 5-12 in each House, this vertical structure creates a "family within a school." Your son remains in the same House for his entire journey, building a deep sense of identity and belonging that carries him through to graduation. This structure allows younger students to feel mentored while providing older boys with tangible leadership opportunities, ensuring a strong community bond is passed down.
Wellbeing Activities and Events
Throughout the year, students engage in a broad range of wellbeing initiatives, awareness campaigns and charitable efforts. These experiences foster resilience, empathy and a strong sense of social responsibility, while encouraging boys to care for themselves and others. Through student-led programs and service opportunities, they develop confidence, connection and the character to make a positive contribution beyond the College gates.
Equity, Inclusion & Our Goal
We value equity in education and believe every student deserves access to the resources they need to succeed, regardless of background, abilities or preferences. Our goal is to develop young people who are not only academically prepared, but also emotionally, socially and spiritually resilient - equipped to make a positive impact in the world.
